Across the country, nearly 42 million Americans are losing essential food assistance. The federal government shutdown has put major programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in jeopardy.  Roughly one in eight Americans, including families with children, seniors, and people with disabilities, depend on SNAP benefits to put food on the table.

Local food banks are straining to meet the surge in need. With fewer resources coming in and more people reaching out for help, they are working overtime to keep up with demand. If you’ve been wondering how to help during the government shutdown, supporting a food bank is one of the most meaningful ways to make an impact.

Introducing Tieks for Food Relief

To address this growing crisis, we’ve launched Tieks for Food Relief—a campaign helping feed families affected by the loss of food assistance. Ways to Support Food Banks and Families in Need

You can take part in Tieks for Food Relief in one of two simple ways:

Option 1: Donate Money

Make a food bank donation of at least $25 to any local or national organization working to feed the hungry. If you’re not sure where to give, Feeding America and Find Help can connect you with food bank donations near you that need support.

After donating, take a photo of your receipt showing the organization name and amount, then submit it here. Once verified, we’ll send your $50 Tieks Gift Card within a few business days.

Option 2: Donate Food

Prefer to donate food directly? Drop off or ship food items worth $25 or more to a local food bank, soup kitchen, or food pantry. Take a photo of the items you’re donating and include your name and the organization’s name with your donation, then upload it through our site for verification. You’ll receive your $50 Tieks Gift Card within 2-5 business days once confirmed.
